Job Title:  2018 SPRING  Equipment / Game Day Operations Internship

Length of Employment: Seasonal Position - Please indicate your dates available. 
Spring interns - January 2018 - May 2018

Hours can also be worked during the week as well based on your availability.

Location: Boyds, MD

Reports to: Operations Director, President of Soccer Operations /Pro DA Coaching Staff

Compensation: unpaid (Credit optional)

Overall Responsibility:

The Operations/ Equipment intern is responsible for the assisting in the operations and logistics relating directly to the players, coaches, team staff and youth programs. The intern will help with overall Pro team Equipment / Youth Equipment. Attend Pro Practices / Home Games and assist with overall Operations.

This is an unpaid internship but we can fulfill requirements for college credit or community service.

Key Areas of Responsibility: 

  • In season: Practice prep, general practice field set up, laundering of game uniforms and practice gear, daily locker room set up and cleaning, and game day preparations.
  • Prepare Pro Team player and team equipment
  • In season: Assist in running Game Day Operations for the Pro Team, Reserve Program and College Academy as outlined in the NWSL and WPSL Manuals.
  • Off-Season: Prepare equipment for 2018 season and assist in arranging accommodations for incoming players.
  • Youth Program or other program responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Staff, Head Coach or General Manager.

 Requirements:

  • Must have a strong work ethic and a desire to build a career in professional sports and entertainment·       
  • Superior Time Management Skills, Dependability, Attention to Detail, Excellent interpersonal skills, Professionalism.

2018 Spring Ticket Sales and Service Intern - Washington Spirit (Boyds, MD)

If so an internship with the Washington Spirit Soccer Club can be the first mile of your marathon!  As an Intern with the Washington Spirit Soccer Club, you will aid the club in continuing to strive to be a premier club on and off of the pitch, you will play a large role in the achievement of this goal by executing projects and by being a part of the day to day activities of the Club.  We are seeking interns that will take steps on their own to grow and hone their craft. As an Intern, you will be expected to give maximum effort every day you come to work. 

Responsibilities: Assist the Sales & Service Team with various tasks.

·       Work with the sales representatives on group sales initiatives and lead generation research.

·       Game day duties include: group data collection and operational duties.

·       Attend Washington Spirit match days and events as needed

·       Assist on match days with groups, client interactions and youth experiences

·       Making outbound phone calls to Washington Spirit fans and prospects.

·       Data entry, filing, organization and inventory

·       Assisting other departments with various tasks

·       Assist with direct mailing campaigns 

Additional Duties: Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Washington Spirit Soccer Club from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Due to the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company. Upon employment, the employee is required to fully comply with Washington Spirit rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of company facilities. Employees who violate these rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Qualifications:

Photography Intern: Washington Spirit are looking for a photography intern to assist the Marketing and Communications department. The photography intern will report to the Communications Director and will assist with the day to day objectives of the Marketing and Communications Department.

Job Duties:

·       Shoot action photos of training sessions

·       Shoot photos during game days and other events as needed.

·       Edit photos in Photoshop

·       Post-game day photo galleries to the team website

·       Photograph fans and in-game presentation

·       Handle image sourcing / emailing internal & external photo requests

·       Assist with archiving of photos

·       Edit photos used on social media

Qualifications:

·       Interested in pursuing a career in photography

·       Proficient in Photoshop

·       Demonstrated photography and photo editing experience

·       Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism within a professional sports environment and in media work zones

Spring / Summer Various Communications / Marketing Intern Positions - WASHINGTON SPIRIT SOCCER (Boyds, MD)

We are accepting applications for Spring and Summer internships. All internships for Washington Spirit are unpaid internships. The internships allow the individual to gain valuable experience with a professional organization for their future in the sports, entertainment and marketing industry. PR Writing Intern

-Description: Assist with the team’s PR writing needs, including roster changes, player and coaching staff contracts, sponsor announcements, game previews, and recaps, as well as other miscellaneous assignments.

-Requirements: Must be a current college student majoring in communications with a focus on public relations or journalism. Relevant sports writing experience strongly preferred.

Video Intern

-Description: Assist both the marketing and communications department in videography needs including but not limited to training recaps, player interviews, and promotional videos.

-Requirements: Must be a current college student with a background in video production. Previous experience with Adobe Premiere or iMovie is strongly preferred. You will be asked to submit examples of prior work.

Graphic Design Intern

-Description: Assist both the Marketing and Communications department in their graphical needs, including but not limited to game promotional graphics, social media headers, and club announcements.

-Requirements: Must be a current college student with a background in graphic design. Previous experience with Photoshop, InDesign, and/or Illustrator is strongly preferred. You will be asked to submit examples of prior work.

Social Media Intern

-Description: Assist both the Marketing and Comminications department in writing and scheduling various social media posts and content production during the 2018 NWSL Season.

-Requirements: Must be a current college student with previous experience representing brands on social media.

Marketing Intern

-Description: Assist the Marketing department in game-day and off-site activations and the development of promotional content

Administration/General Management: Administrative/Executive Assistant
Washington Spirit Youth Programs Administrator - Washington Spirit (Boyds, MD)

We are seeking a full time professional to lead all administrative aspects of our sizable and growing youth club operations.

Primary duties include:

  • Planning and scheduling dozens of youth program offerings per year
  • Creating registration forms
  • Working with our marketing team to plan, launch, and promote the programs
  • Processing youth player registrations
  • Creating and maintaining schedules
  • Scheduling and managing facilities
  • Scheduling and managing coaching assignments
  • Scheduling and managing referee assignments
  • Planning, ordering, tracking, and organizing player and coaching apparel
  • Communications to families related to logistics and registration requirements
  • Tracking, reconciling, reporting income and expenses
  • Work closely with marketing and communications department
  • Maintaining youth programs sections of websites
  • Managing seasonal operations and administrative interns

Experience in managing youth camps, clubs, leagues a must. Must also be very comfortable working in an office environment with most time spent on a computer on the phone with partners, vendors, and parents. Firm understanding of MS Office or Google Docs suite of productivity tools required, with an emphasis on spreadsheet usage, manipulation and reporting tools. Experience with Sports NGIN youth registration platform preferred but not required.

This position comes with a significant responsibility and seasonal pressure to put in the hours necessary to meet deadlines that aren't always under anyone's control. You'll be dealing with parents on the phone and via email a lot. You will also get to work in and around our professional team operations and be exposed to many aspects of a professional team front office and training environments. A strong work ethic and exceptional interpersonal skills are a must.

The position reports to our VP of Administration and Operations, and is primarily based out of our stadium offices in Boyds, Md. Some telecommuting is likely, as is the need to be present at the fields and facilities on days when youth programs kick off. The start date is immediate.
